3 hospitalized in early morning Waikiki stabbing

WAIKIKI, Hawaii (KHON2) — An early morning fight in Waikiki turned into a stabbing, leaving three people hospitalized.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident near the Kalakaua Ave and Keoniana St intersection shortly after 4 a.m.

Officials said two of the male patients, both in their 40s, were fighting. It is unclear which male started the fight and stabbing.

A 21-year-old female passing by was also stabbed.

Paramedics performed life-saving treatment on the first male, who suffered stab wounds to the upper chest.

The second man sustained injuries to his hands. Officials said they also treated the woman after she was stabbed in the back.

All three patients were transported to an area hospital.

Honolulu Police Department officials were alerted and classified the incident as an attempted homicide. An investigation is ongoing.
