(HONOLULU, HI) The Hawaii baseball team has undergone some new changes this offseason as the field received some renovations.
It was a long time waiting for the team, but the diamond finally getting remodeled with new turf. The new design with stripes alternating different shades of the color green.
“It’s been awesome. I mean, we didn’t get able to practice (on the field) for the last two months or a month and a half. And kind of just seeing it laid down piece by piece and all of it coming together now is, looks beautiful,” said Hawaii infielder Jordan Donahue.
For Donahue and Hawaii utility player Ben Zeigler-Namoa, seeing the turf finished gives them eagerness and confidence that Les Murakami Stadium has taken another step with it’s atmosphere.
“It’s a whole other level of, you don’t just get this great atmosphere, the great fans, but you also get to play on this this daunting field now where it’s just like you walk in and you’re like, ‘Oh, it’s everyone against us’. And it’s going to be a huge disadvantage for opponents for sure,” said Zeigler-Namoa.
Fans will get to see the team in action on the new field during the Hawaii Baseball Alumni Game on February 1st at 1:00pm.
