WAILEA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Four people have been displaced in Maui Meadows following a structure fire on Malina Place.
Maui Fire Department was called to a fully involved structure fire in Wailea shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find flames engulfing the property’s main structure and the cottage.
Officials said firefighters used extended hose lines to attack the main fire and the fire in the cottage before it spread to neighboring structures.
The fire was deemed under control at 10:40 p.m. with crews working overnight to extinguish remaining hot spots.
The incident has yet to be fully extinguished as firefighters are using heavy equipment to help open the debris.
Fire investigators estimated about $400,000 in damage to the main house and $74,000 in damage to the cottage.

MFD added that three vehicles were also damaged.
At this time, the cause and origin of the fire has not been determined.
