HONOLULU (KHON2) — A new $140 million State Hospital building is still dealing with significant construction defects that are causing operational issues at the facility.

Agency officials shared the troubling news with lawmakers in a meeting Wednesday, highlighting how these defects are impacting the hospital’s ability to function properly.

The facility is the only one of its kind in the state designed specifically to care for individuals with mental health conditions.
