HILO, Hawaii (KHON2) — Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced that Seanson Marpel, a 22-year-old Big Island man was arrested and charged in connection to a robbery incident on Feb. 25 in Hilo, as well as credit card crimes from Feb. 25 and 26.
It is alleged that the 22-year-old used a sword-like bladed weapon to threaten others inside a local restaurant. Authorities also accuse Marpel of unauthorized use and possession of credit cards belonging to two other individuals.
Marpel’s charges total to 19 offenses, including Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, as well as drug-related and identity theft charges.
His most serious offense is Robbery in the First Degree, which is a class A felony and carries a penalty of 20 years in prison.
Marpel made his first court appearance on Feb. 26 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled March 4.
