HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Diamond Head Theatre announced its 2025-2026 season on March 2 during their theatre showcase, with a season composed of classic shows and modern experiences.
The shows patrons can enjoy at Diamond Head Theatre are:
“Come From Away”
This musical is based on the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, but from a different angle than what is typically told. The production covers the true story of 38 planes carrying thousands of passengers were redirected to Newfoundland in Canada, where the passengers were welcomed by locals. The show opens on Sept. 12, 2025 and is written by Tony award nominees.
“Piney Needlesmith and the Road Less Traveled”
This heartwarming family musical follows a misfit pine tree who is searching for her place in the world. Aided by a charismatic polar bear, the tree embarks on an adventure to find herself, with the show capturing the holiday season. The show opens Nov. 21 and closes on Dec. 7.
“The Last Five Years”
This musical follows a New York couple, a rising author and aspiring actress, as they navigate the highs and lows of their five year relationship. The show opens Jan. 23, 2026 and closes on Feb. 8, 2026.
“West Side Story”
This classic musical follows star-crossed lovers Maria and Tony as their relationship transcends race and social groups in this “Romeo and Juliet” inspired production. The show opens March 20, 2026 and closes April 5, 2026.
“Funny Girl”
Another Broadway classic, this musical follows a determined New York girl, Fanny Brice, as she fights to become a star despite the odds. The show will run from May 22, 2026 to June 7, 2026.
“Les Miserables”
This world-famous musical features frenchman Jean Valjean after he was released from a 19 year unjust prison term during 19th century France. The show will run from July 31, 2026 to August 16, 2026.
“Our 2025-2026 season builds on DHT’s tradition of artistic excellence with fresh energy and innovative theatrical storytelling,” DHT Executive Director Trevor Tamashiro said. “Next season, we focus on presenting powerful, inspirational stories with an eclectic lineup of shows that offers entertainment for all ages, from keiki to kupuna.”
