Officials rescue unresponsive male, 20s, who jumped off Spitting Caves

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu Ocean Safety and the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a missing person call for a person who jumped into the ocean off of Spitting Caves on the east side of Oahu at around 6:10 p.m. on Feb. 8.

Within minutes of arrival, Honolulu Fire Department was able to locate the individual, an unresponsive male believed to be in his 20s. Ocean Safety jet ski operates were able to bring the male to the shore.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded and performed lifesaving measures on the individual, before transporting the patient to an emergency room in critical condition.

Officials warn about that particular area of the coastline, with the jump off of Spitting Caves being between 50 to 60 feet into the open ocean with strong currents.
