After seven weeks at No. 4, the University of Hawai‘i men’s volleyball team has moved up one spot to No. 3 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, released Monday.
The Rainbow Warriors (15-1, 2-0 Big West) surged in the rankings after a dominant start to conference play, sweeping previously third-ranked UC Irvine in back-to-back matches Friday and Sunday at SimpliFi Arena.
Offensive Dominance Fuels Sweep
Hawai‘i controlled both matches, hitting .374 as a team, while freshman opposite Kristian Titriyski put on a breakout performance. The Sofia, Bulgaria native was nearly unstoppable, averaging 6.00 kills per set in the series.
Titriyski capped the weekend with a match-high 19 kills on .571 hitting Sunday night. Across both matches, he totaled 36 kills on 60 attempts, hitting a combined .417.
The Rainbow Warriors have a short turnaround, returning to the court this week for a two-match series against Lindenwood on Wednesday, March 5, and Friday, March 7, at SimpliFi Arena.
