With Valentine’s Day approaching across the United States, many residents are reconsidering how much they’ll spend due to rising costs. The report found that 39% of Americans say inflation is affecting their plans. In fact, 34% of people don’t expect to receive any gifts this year.

Financial issues also impact relationships, with nearly three in four people saying financial infidelity — hiding spending habits — can be worse than cheating.

About 1 in 3 Americans believe irresponsible spending is the biggest financial problem in relationships with 59% saying bad spending habits are a bigger turnoff than bad breath!

Despite these concerns, people still plan to spend generously. Total Valentine’s Day spending is expected to reach $27.5 billion in 2025, averaging $188.81 per person.

Men are expected to spend nearly twice as much as women. A large portion of this spending, about $11.9 billion, will go toward jewelry and special nights out.

This shows that even with financial caution, many still prioritize showing love through gifts and experiences.
