The Hawaii softball team hosted Long Beach State on Saturday for a doubleheader to close out the weekend series.
Hawaii in game 1 was tied at 2 after the 1st inning. Both teams in the first inning hit a homerun, (Jaimie McGaughey for Hawaii).
The Rainbow Wahine took a lead in the 2nd inning after a Tuiloma single into left field.
But The Beach was able to find runs late in the game to take game 1 8-3. Long Beach State scored 4 runs in the 7th inning and finished with 10 hits in the game. Hawaii tallied 9 hits but was held scoreless for the final 5 innings.
In game 2, Hawaii got off to a slow start after Long Beach State scored 5 runs in the first 4 innings to Hawaii’s 0.
The Rainbow Wahine scored 1 run in the 5th inning, but Long Beach State matched UH and some, as they scored 4 runs in the 6th to hand Hawaii their 2nd loss of the day 9-1 in 6 innings.
Next up for Hawaii Softball, they will travel to take on CSUN next week.
