Maui Health launches paid summer internships for college students

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Maui Health is now accepting applications for its paid Summer Internship Program, giving college students an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the healthcare industry.

The program allows participants to explore vital non-clinical roles that support patient care, offering a closer look at how healthcare organizations operate beyond the bedside.

Interns will have the chance to work in a variety of departments, including finance, information technology, human resources, social services, marketing, communications, and admitting. These positions are designed for students who want to explore the healthcare field and begin building a career on Maui.

Interns will work directly alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable skills and insights into the inner workings of healthcare systems. While the primary work location will be at Maui Memorial Medical Center, some positions may offer hybrid or remote work options.

Maui Health CEO Lynn Fulton stressed the importance of investing in the future healthcare workforce.

“We’re committed to creating opportunities for local students to gain experience and start careers here in Maui,” said Fulton. “By offering paid training programs like this internship and our Kula Hospital Nurse Aide Training Program, we’re not only helping address the ongoing shortage of healthcare workers but also ensuring that the next generation of professionals is rooted in the communities where they grew up and will one day raise their families.”
