Storm front to bring showers to the islands starting Friday

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Mostly dry conditions prevail over the islands through Thursday. Showers are expected to be limited in scope until another wet season storm system arrives Friday. Showers are expected to ramp up state-wide on Friday and some showers may be heavy for Kauai. Another round of wet weather arrives Sunday and Monday.

Kauai will have light to moderate east-southeasterly winds through Wednesday, with lighter winds and typical land/sea breezes elsewhere. It will be mostly dry, with a few showers possible at night and in the mornings along windward areas, and in the afternoons inland and on leeward sides.

Winds will shift to southerly and increase on Thursday as a front approaches, then weaken on Friday as the front dissipates near Kauai. Thursday will be mostly dry, but showers will increase over the western islands Thursday night and Friday, especially Kauai. The front will weaken and move north Friday night and Saturday, allowing winds to return to light to moderate east-southeasterlies, strongest over the eastern islands. The western islands will be mostly dry Saturday, while the eastern islands will see increasing showers and clouds.

Another front approaches Sunday and will move into the western islands early next week, bringing more southerly winds and unsettled weather.
