WAILUKU, Hawaii (KHON2) — A crash on West Kaahumanu Avenue in Wailuku claimed the life of a motorcyclist, Maui’s fourth traffic fatality in 2025.
Maui officials said the late-night single motor vehicle collision happened on Saturday, March 8, around 11:46 p.m., 726 feet west of Lunalilo Street.
A preliminary investigation revealed a black 2023 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was driving west on West Kaahumanu Avenue.
MPD said the motorcycle veered right over the solid white fog line, struck a curb and embankment, and crashed into the northeast corner of Tings Bridge’s retaining wall.
The 40-year-old male Wailuku motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials added the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
