HONOLULU (KHON2) — Trade winds returned to the islands in a big way to start the month of March. Wind speeds are approaching 30 mph sustained with gusts to 50 mph. These wind speeds are expected through at least Tuesday. Trade winds will pushing in light to moderate showers primarily over windward locales.
Tonight/Thursday:
- More light showers, especially for Kauai and Oahu, some might reach leeward areas.
Thursday/Friday:
- Winds might get a little weaker but still gusty.
Weekend:
- Winds will get stronger again, especially in Maui County and the Big Island, possibly becoming strong enough for advisories.
- More light showers are expected on windward sides.
